Elastic wave velocity survey at Misakubo dam, Tenryu river system, shizuoka prefecture
Three-dimensional distributions of elastic wave velocity within foundation rock were obtained by Masuda's mean velocity method at Misakubo dam; bedrock is composed of Paleozoic chert, schalstein, sandstone and slate; velocity values within foundation rock are generally small; this low velocity is caused by effect of joints and fractures; engineering significance of velocity values and velocity distributions are examined from viewpoint of Young's modulus of bedrock, and of design and construction of arch dam.
