Resistance coefficients for structural plate corrugated pipe
Model investigations to determine resistance coefficients for structural plate pipe with corrugations 2 in. deep by 6 in. crest to crest were conducted in models simulating 5-, 10-, and 20-ft-diam structural plate pipes; hydraulic gradients, velocity distributions, and static pressure measurements across diameter were obtained for range of Reynolds numbers which essentially covers that encountered in culvert design; data were used to develop mean flow equation which permits determination of resistance coefficient due to corrugations for all sizes of pipe; analysis was made to determine increment of resistance attributable to bolts used in assembly of this type of pipe.
