Design and operation of new machine in use at Meekins-Bamman Precast Corp, Hollywood, Fla, is described; slip forming machine utilizes conventional-slump concrete and is capable of producing up to 8 ft of 4 ft wide slab/min from plastic concrete ranging in slump from 1 1/2 in, to 2 1/2 in.; slip former is 25 ft long, weighs 5 tons, operates along previouslyprepared prestressed concrete casting bed surface and runs on two steel sidetracks which are installed with low minimum tolerances from horizontal plane.
