Ductility of concrete
Investigation was conducted to obtain data on load-deformation characteristics of concrete as related to rotation capacity of reinforced concrete connections; effect of rectangular ties on load-deformation characteristics of concrete is discussed; tests were carried out on 60 axially loaded 5×5×25in. prisms; fabrication and instrumentation of test specimens and test setup are described; major variables in experimental program were spacing of ties and amount of longitudinal reinforcement; all specimens were 25 in. long and had 5-in. square cross sections; volumetric ratio of transverse reinforcement was kept constant at 0.02 and target cylinder strength was 3500psi.
