Illustrated note on part of reconstruction program of Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Co, on section crossing Blue Ridge Mountains; all tunnels were built between 1850 and 1858; at 538 ft Greenwood Tunnel, instead of enlarging, it was decided to replace it with a cut about 600 ft long, close to lining of old tunnel; tunnel walls were reinforced; as soon as new cut was completed, steel lining was salvaged.
