New combination bank protection constructed on Eel River near Dyerville
Design used consisted of medium rock riprap 2 ft 9 in. thick, normal to 1 1/2:1 embankment slope, and 6 in. × 25 ft flexible rock and wire mattress 5 ft above toe of rock riprap; bank to be protected consisted of alluvial silt extending to depth of 15 ft below stream bed; 35-ft flood height; diagonal velocity developed; flexible mattress effective.
