Seven grade crossings eliminated by 3 1/2-mile route change
As result of project involving relocation of 3 1/2 mi of New York Central's 4-track main line at Herkimer, NY, tracks have been removed from heart of village to outskirts, and 7 important grade crossings have been eliminated; details of project which involved construction of about 14 mi of track, passenger station, and five bridges.
