Design of earthquake resistant multistorey framed structures
Philosophy and studies of earthquake resistant design are reviewed and their influence on current building codes is outlined; particular emphasis is laid on factors arising from dynamic nature of earthquake loads; response-spectra, normal mode approach to seismic design, is described and method of determining dynamic elastic loads likely to be suffered by multistory, multibay rigid framed structure in earthquake is presented.
