Prestressed concrete bridge is built with box beams without diaphragms
Railroad bridge 6175 carries single track of Rock Island over Big Fossil creek between Dallas, Tex, and Ft Worth and is built of through-voided box beams without intermediate and end diaphragms; beams are preset on level supports and bonded together in pairs, using interior beam and facia beam to each pair; same bonding procedure and materials as used at casting plant for making double beams were used at bridge site; waterproofing at end joints is described; advantages claimed for design include ease of fabrication, handling and erection.
