Boiler column straightening under load conditions
Furnace explosion that occurred in boiler of 175 Mw steam generating unit at Southern California Edison Co's Alamitos Steam Station is described; complete survey was made of entire structure and information obtained was analyzed, and planned and carefully controlled procedure for its repair was established; method of cold-pulling deflected column to its pre-explosion position by use of lift-slab jacks was used; explosion resulted from ignition of explosive mixture of fuel gas and air.
