Flexural behaviour of reinforced concrete beams with high strength deformed bars
For economical design of reinforced concrete members using high strength deformed bars, it is practice in Japan to raise allowable stress according to yield point; however, if allowable tensile stress in steel is excessively high, width of cracks in concrete may become great enough to cause some harm to structure; results of bending tests of T-beams 80 cm in depth and 600 cm in length are described; 11 types of bars were used; compressive strength of concrete was 300 and 400 kg/sq cm; 16 beams were prepared; all beams were loaded to destruction at two points of 500 cm span.
