Evolution of gases during solidification of 3% Si transformer steel
Theoretical and experimental data are presented to show that, in order to avoid rimming and to obtain sound 10-cm thick surface zone in large ingots of this steel, hydrogen in metal must not exceed 4.0-4.5 cc/100 g if nitrogen is 6-4 cc. (See also Stal n 1 Jan 1963 p 34-7)
