Brief summary of theoretical investigation, results and comparison with mechanical behavior of axially compressed cylinder show that experimental buckling phenomena are well reproduced in theoretical considerations; simple formula well suited for practical purposes is suggested for breakdown load in elastic range; behavior of compressed cylindrical shell in plastic range is discussed.
