Novel building with integral insulation
Example of use of reinforced plastics is provided by building developed to house telephone exchange and to provide additional office space for factory in Birmingham, England; building is designed on stressed skin method, each panel deriving its strength and rigidity from 2-directional curve; reinforced light weight plastics laminate used comprising 2 polyester glass skins with phenolic foam core; construction features of building; based on prototype work, it is believed this form of construction can be offered at cost levels close to that of conventional building construction; building combines light weight and high degree of thermal insulation.
