Use of small brickwork panels for testing mortars
Transverse test for studying brick/mortar bond, and results for effect of water retentivity of mortar and suction of bricks, and of mortar composition on extent of freezing damage to newly built brickwork; method of measuring deflection under load of test panels is suggested as nondestructive test for examining long-term deterioration in bond that might be caused by frost or by sulfate attack; possible use of these small panels for quality control tests on site brickwork is also discussed.
