Horizontal shear resistance of composite beams
Tests on 4 composite beams, 2 rectangular and 2 T-sections with steel joist fully encased, and without any shear connectors, are described; load-carrying capacities of beams determined experimentally are compared with those calculated from transformed section theory; pullout tests on steel joist embedded in concrete were also carried out to determine ultimate bond stress which was found to be between 170 and 200 psi.
