Effect of axial compression on shear strength of reinforced concrete frame members
Tests of knee frames with ratios of axial force to shear varying from 0 to 6, covered entire range from failure caused by shear in absence of axial load to failure caused by eccentric compression; investigation (extension of earlier study) was limited to variations of load ratio; shear compression strength was found to increase with axial load faster than indicated by earlier tests; modification of empirical parameter for ultimate strength was found necessary.
