Forerunner of new class being built for Royal Rotterdam Lloyd and Nederland Lines is of 12,080 tons dw, has bulbous bow of 4.8 m diam and 17.5 m length; builders are Nippon Kokan (NKK); hull length oa 531 ft 6 in., breadth molded 77 ft 9 in., depth molded 45 ft 11 in., loaded draft 29 ft 9 in., bale capacity 696,000 cu ft; maximum output of 6-cyl Stork engine is 20,000 bhp; plan.
