Liners ordered by VEB Deutsche Seereederei are now in operation between Europe and East Africa; Eichsfeld was built by "De Hoop " yard, Prignitz by De Merwede and Flaeming by De Biesbosch; particulars for first are length oa 136 m, breadth molded 17.70 m, depth to shelterdeck 7.47 m, draft closed 7.62 m and open 6.79 m, dw open 6290 tons and closed 7770 tons, bale capacity 10,350 cu m; Stork engine is rated 8800 bhp at 140 rpm; plan.
