Anticipated foundation movements resulting from removal of heavy overburden loads from over-consolidated soils initiated special considerations of construction sequence and structural details for Dos Amigos Pumping Plant in California; progressive unloading and reloading of foundation is controlled by construction specifications for this 13,200 cfs pumping plant; possibility of relatively large differential movements across building expansion joints and between structure and discharge pipe line foundation; special details for embedded pipe and conduit are developed to provide articulation across building expansion joints; articulation of discharge pipe line between building and pipe line foundation is also developed.
