Tulsa exposition building -- Hanging cantilevers provide cover framing
Cable suspension system supports roof of Tulsa Exposition Building, enclosing some 10 acres mostly column-free; box-section welded girders, prestretched cables, and box-section welded columns are main components of system; cables from box-section masts support main girders cantilevering from either side of building; cables also support girder section between mast and outside anchor columns, which are anchored to concrete piers by post-tensioning tendons; tandem submerged-arc equipment, using low-carbon steel wire electrodes, was used for shop welding; hand welding methods were used for field erection.
