A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A framing and hanging tool
The tool 1 comprises an elongate main body 2 with a flat outer surface 4, a plurality of arms 3 of different lengths movable independently of each other and with straight edges 6, an end of each arm being pivotally connected to one end of the body, and a locking mechanism 5 for locking the relative position of the arms and the body, the body and the arms being configured so pivoting the arms away from the body forms a smooth corner between them. The locking mechanism may be a quick release skewer. The body may have an access groove 8 and slot 7 into which the arms are rotated. There may be up to eight arms. The body may have a bench locator 9 extending inwards from it for securing the tool to a door, and a spirit level 10 for indicating when the main body is aligned vertically.
