Water-cooled luminaire design considerations
Introduction of luminaire into integrated building plan where best utilization and distribution of light heat can be obtained is proposed; materials consideration led to choice of all-steel system; mathematical study was carried out to determine energy distribution in luminaire and actual luminaire was designed based on calculated values of tube spacing and troffer thickness for steel construction; advantages of water-cooled luminaire; since 70% of lighting heat can be captured and disposed of independently of building air-conditioning system, threefold increase in lighting level can be achieved without any effect on refrigeration or air-handling requirements.
