Luminous ceiling designed as architectural form
Main banking room at Northern Trust Co Bank, Chicago, Ill, measures 90 ft wide, 150 ft long and encompasses more than 12,000 sq ft of floor space; walls are paneled in dark wood; design criteria were met by creating modular coffer ceiling system; pattern of 8-ft-square, 2-ft-high coffer domes was worked out to give illusion of height and depth making skylight of each dome; basic module is 8-ft, 3-lamp direct and indirect fluorescent unit; other details.
