Electrocorrosion of cables with aluminum casings under effect of industrial alternating currents
Methods and results of investigation of electrocorrosion of aluminum cable casings exposed to a-c in ground and groundwaters; at low current densities effect of electrocorrosion is small because of passivation of Al in anode half period and of high H overvoltage under effect of cathode current pulses, but role of these factors is limited when current density reaches critical value; since cathode protection cannot be used for underground Al structures, insulation from contact with soil is indicated.
