Description of work carried out for providing turning space for vessels in deepened dock which included permanent closing of existing Commercial Dock entrance, and removal of 25,000 cu yd of accumulated silt from Commercial Dock and 6000 cu yd from Dun Aengus Dock; rock excavation over 6 ft, linking of Commercial Dock and Dun Aengus Dock, dredging of approximately 120,000 cu yd of accumulated silt from Approach Channel and outer harbor area, construction of passenger terminal building on Approach pier, and demolition of existing transit and stores sheds are described; construction methods are given.
