Technical and economic considerations on dams with pervious blankets
Problem of seepage through homogeneous isotropic dam standing on impervious substratum and with pervious blanket on its downstream side; solutions proposed by S.Numerov, A.Casagrande and P.Guevel for problem of flow through dam with inclined facings and filters are reviewed; direct solution by finite difference method, in which quantities are first reduced to nondimensional form and problem is then approached numerically in plane of potential and stream functions; method is used to determine minimum dam volume for given permissible leakage rate. (In French with English summary)
