Rheology investigation of main characteristics of stability, compactability, and mobility; stability is dependent on bleeding and segregation tendencies; compactability is related to relative density; mobility is function of viscosity of cement paste, cohesion of mix and its angle of internal resistance to deformation; from this has emerged practical concept of flow characteristics of fresh concrete; this understanding of internal factors involved, which are normally taken under one heading of workability, has proved valuable in assessing which mix characteristics play significant part in various practical problems in concrete construction.
