Approximate method of analysis for deflections of bridge slabs is presented; method employs principle of minimum potential energy in conjunction with assumption that chordwise deflected shape may be represented by power series, coefficients of which are functions of spanwise position; coefficients are determined by minimization of total potential energy of system.
