Piles 54-in. OD, caps of 27 tons and 84 ft deck sections were used in twin crossing of Lake Pontchartrain causeway; new causeway is two-lane bridge with 28-ft roadway; precast bridge deck is four-girder 84 ft span weighing 280 tons; three-pile instead of two-pile bents are being used; design includes fixed marine span with 150-ft horizontal and 50-ft vertical clearance, and double-leaf bascule with horizontal clearance of 125 ft.
