A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Analytical method is developed for calculating reactions and stresses in single span circular-arc I-type girder curved in horizontal plane; mathematical expressions for elastic curves are derived, based on extension of Timoshenko theory for nonuniform torsion; both concentrated and uniform load conditions are presented; formulas are provided for computing deflection and angle of twist as well as for flange moments and shears resulting from warping restraint; method considers various end conditions encountered in practice, including free-end or cantilever case; two examples are included.
