Will we let fire hazards stop high-stacking progress
High stacking in warehouses requires new perspectives on adequacy of fire protection; in new high rack storage sprinklers at intermediate levels may be installed; in determining fire wall separations in new high rack buildings, it seems proper to consider cubical content rather than square feet area, and it is quite likely that this concept or concept of maximum dollar exposure to any one fire will be used in determining fire separations; in similar manner, in determining roof venting ratios and draft curtains, cubical content of area involved should determine design criteria; savings which new equipment and systems effect for users must not be negated by increased insurance and protection costs.
