New distributions of extreme winds in united states
Annual extreme wind speed data series were extended with records at airports and reduced to 30-ft elevation; these were fitted by Fisher-Tippett Type II (Frechet) distribution by logarithmic transformation of Type I distribution; maps are given for 2-, 10-, 25-, 50-, and 100-yr mean recurrence intervals; map for 50-yr interval for Alaska is included as well as tabular data for Hawaii and Puerto Rico; nomogram for power law elevation-speed conversion for powers of 1/7, 1/5, and 1/3 is included.
