Spillway for Kaysinger Bluff dam Osage river, Missouri
Tests were conducted on 1 to 60-scale model to determine discharge characteristics of spillway, stilling basin performance, flow conditions, and adequacy of various sizes of riprap in outlet channel; spillway consisted of ogee crest with four 40-ft-wide by 47. 3-ft-high tainter gates and hydraulic-jump type stilling basin; unstable surging of flow that occurred on upstream side of spillway gates with original design during operation with large partial gate openings was eliminated by decreasing length of gate piers upstream from gates.
