Application of electro-osmosis to foundation problem in Norwegian quick clay
Paper describes case where application of electro-osmosis resulted in increase in strength of very soft quick clay from initial value of less than 1 t/sq m to average value of 4 t/sq m; based on observations made during treatment and at excavation site, attempt is made to give picture of effect of electro-osmotic treatment on soft clay; observations include measurements of settlements and pore pressures at various depths and studied of change in properties of clay resulting from treatment.
