"Italit" pipe for water pressure piping
It is made in manner resembling that used for manufacture of cardboard tubing; around metal cylinder of diameter slightly less than desired piping successive layers are deposited of doughlike material consisting of cement and asbestos; tests made at various Italian testing laboratories have shown ability of this piping to resist high hydraulic pressures; high resistance is due to presence of asbestos, method of manufacture, and, in particular, to powerful compression mechanically exerted on successive layers which form pipe.
