Underground passage under Place de la Concorde
Passage comprises 192 m long 14.5 m wide straight section parallel to banks of River Seine, and 194 m long 9.5 m wide curved section branching into Champs Elysees; 170 m of this work is underground, balance constitutes open cut; work presented particular difficulties due to crossing over subway tunnel, high groundwater line, and proximity of Concorde Bridge which required construction of seven bentonite-grouted walls 1 m thick 20 m long 14 m deep to replace original abutment.
