Role of aggregates in open-void formation in epoxy resin seal-coats
Number of voids was obtained using photographic technique employing sparking device; as particle shape changed from angular to round, and particle size decreased, number and size of open voids decreased; single fractions produced sealcoats with fewer open voids than composite blends containing two or more of those fractions; sealcoats that were essentially free of open voids were constructed with rounded aggregates, particularly when sizes smaller than 0.033 in. (No. 20 sieve) were employed.
