Flaming Gorge dam and powerplant
Design and construction of Colorado River Storage Project in Utah; dam, power plant and reservoir comprise one of four units of project provided for flood protection, sediment retention, fish and wildlife conservation, and recreational opportunities; concrete thin arch dam is 502 ft high, has top width of 27 ft, maximum base width of 131 ft and crest length of 1285 ft; total capacity of reservoir to top of active conservation level, at elevation of 6040 ft is 3,788,900 acre-ft; power plant is indoor type reinforced concrete substructure and superstructure of steel frame construction with concrete curtain walls; total installed capacity is 120,000 kva at 90% pf.
