Production of chromium-nickel stainless steel with maximum 0.03% C, 16-18% Cr, 10-15% Ni, and maximum 0.4-0.6% Ti or Cb in large electric arc furnaces, instead of small vacuum induction furnaces, is described in detail; steel is used for tube billets and plates.
