Advantage of making folded plate roofs of prefabricated prestressed concrete sheets as compared with conventional method of precasting or in-situ concrete construction is explained; roof construction for bakery and ancillary buildings at Swansea is described; prestressed folded plate assemblies of both "V" and "W" cross sections were used to roof large unobstructed floor areas; construction technique adopted permitted whole roof to be built from prefabricated flat sheets of pretensioned concrete; short "first-approximation" calculation is given to prove stability of "infinitely thin" free edges of V-unit against buckling during erection.
