Heat evolution tests with calcium aluminate binders and castables
Device is described for determination of rate of temperature increase during hydration of calcium aluminate binders used for manufacture of refractory castables and concretes; automatically recorded time-temperature curves are shown; for given binder composition, thermal history of binder and amount of admixtures influenced rate of hydration markedly; some correlation between heat evolution and strength development was indicated.
