New type transmission towers tested
New type 345-kv single circuit tower which may reduce costs is being manufactured by Bethlehem Pacific Coast Steel Corp, San Francisco; prototype tower was tested by means of two 160 ft steel tower testing frames; after tests were successfully completed, tower was dismantled and all members carefully examined for any signs of having been overstressed.
