Reconstruction of Greenwell's No. 1 Dry Dock and ancillary works at Sunderland
Difficulties encountered before main cofferdam could be built; new dock was connected by tunnel to pumping system of adjacent No. 2 Dry Dock thus making possible use of No. 2 Dock pumping equipment for both docks; largest box flap gate so far constructed is used to close entrance of new dock.
