Developments in design of large bridges in Germany during last decade, especially on the Rhine River; design and calculation of new parallel-girder bridge under construction and new steel (St.48) used in its construction, a carbon steel having strength of 48 to 58 kg. per sq. cm., and effecting saving of 4000 tons in comparison with St.37 steel; length of bridge, 532 m.
