Mangla dam -- Biggest contract ever
Information on project in Pakistan, undertaken under Industrial Waters Treaty, whereby waters of river and its 5 tributaries were allocated between India and Pakistan; largest single engineering project is Mangla Reservoir on Jhelum River in northern Pakistan which will have gross storage capacity of 5.55 million acre-ft, 4.75 acre-ft of which will be live storage; Mangla Dam with crest length of 11,000 ft, Jari Dam and Sukian Dyke will complete closure of reservoir; apart from controlling flood waters and providing water for irrigation through triple canal system, Mangla Dam will also generate hydroelectric power.
