Severe scouring action caused by seasonal floods has forced pipe line company to replace its buried crossing of meandering Sutlej River in Pakistan; in order to meet changing conditions, bridge more than mile in length has been built across river; 3 main chords of bridge are 3 12-in. lines carrying gas; 23 piers are at 252-ft centers and consist of 5-ft diam steel-cased reinforced concrete piles.
