Pont de la Caille on road between Annecy and Geneva in France is 450-ft. single-arch bridge of reinforced concrete spanning gorge 480 ft. deep; arch is of encastre type; owing to its proportions no longitudinal tensile stresses are produced; it is of cellular form composed of bottom slab, ribs, and top slab; precast units used to control shrinkage and eliminate bending moments; all falsework based on cable support only.
