Boulder dam engineering board reports project feasible
Sets cost $40,000,000 higher than estimate; President Coolidge suggests favorable Congressional action; by far highest in world, Black Canyon dam would have crest height above low water of 550 ft., and would impound lake containing 26,000,000 acre-ft. of water; Board investigated at some length possible methods of construction; plan calls for building of two cofferdams, one 70 ft. and other 29 ft. above low-water level; power and irrigation.
