Concrete lined shaft 16 ft in diam was sunk through water bearing strata; object is to consolidate permanently all joints and fissures in order to prevent subsequent flow of water to shaft or drive during excavation; treatment is preferably carried out before sinking; it is necessary to gain access to individual underground water courses by suitably drilled holes.
